Did you know?- Two thirds of the earth's plant species are
found in tropical rainforests. - Plants from the Amazon Rainforest are used to produce fruit, coffee, cacao, rubber, dyes, gums, and wood. - Many of the medicines such as cancer fighting medications come from the Amazon Rainforest. |
Some organisms work together in the Amazon (Mutualism)
An Orchid compensates for its lack of a true water-retentive root system by working with
mycorrhizae fungi during parts of its life cycle. During this period, the fungi grow partly inside orchid roots, and helps the orchid absorb water and minerals. The orchid helps the fungi by producing some nutrients for the fungi during photosynthesis. |
